breif history

the papermate clear point was introduced in 2017 as a afordable mechanical pencil that still has some style to it. It was released to massive success due to its price point and unique looks. this pen quickly became peoples pencil of choice.

writing quality

the papermate clear point is the same as your average mechanical pencil when it comes to writing quality. the lead its shipped with isnt anything special no anti break technology or smooth writing magic so for that it is very average.

pen design

the pencils design is overall very good looking although there are some flaws i will talk about in a bit. the grip is this weird uncomfortable design which is composed of lines rather than a solid grip. i dont understand who decided to make the pen this way but who ever you are you need to design better grips. the materials of the grip are not bad which saves it frome being completly unusable. still even then its my least favorite grip design ever. the clip on the side of this pen is not the best. it looks fine and the clear plastic matching the pen is nice but from my experince the clip breaks of way to easily. i also dont like how thin it is it makes it look kinda stupid

flaws

this pen has alot of flaws that alot of people just seem to look over for some reason. one of the biggest flaws is that the pen is very fragile. like i metioned before the clip breaks off really easily plus. the leas also seems to be very easy to break although for a pen in this pricepoint its acceptible because i dont expect this cheap of a pen to have anti break technology on the tip so it gets a pass in that regard. another issue is that the eraser retracts way to easily and then being to hard to extend. one of if not THE biggest issue for this pen though is its quality decline over the years. if you take a loot at a 2017 clear point you can feel that there is a big difference in quality especially in common faliure points like the clip.

final thoughts

this pen is one of the worst pencils ive ever used (i was exaggerating in the title to this review) the grip is terrible and is very unconfortable there is lots of common faliure points and overall for this pricepoint you can get much better pens. this pencil is also super overated like whenever i ask someone what their favorite mechanical pencil is they always say this one and i always thing why like its not a very good pencil. i rate this pen a solid 2/10.
